Single-pass decision engine — Live product, named residuals

DecisionManager runs a compile-once, single-pass engine with equality indexes, residual_rules metering, hit policies, step budget, and admission/shed. We do not invent multi-algo Rete as Live. Residuals are named plainly so enterprise buyers can map ODM XU expectations without hype.

What is Live on the engine path

Real Decision Server / engine APIs — the same path production execute uses. Evidence lives in the Engine honesty matrix on Decision Server.

    Each request evaluates candidates in one pass. No incremental re-evaluation product, no working-memory re-activation loop.

    Compiled multi-key equality indexes so table lookups do not go linear as candidate rows grow — same measured path as published latency figures.

    Compile and execute surfaces residual_rules coverage and tax so operators see what still falls outside indexed equality paths.

    Step budget (+ optional wall clock)

    Deterministic step budget bounds every decision; optional wall-clock guard (ENGINE_MAX_MILLIS) prevents runaway work. Same budget language as the rest of the site.

    Admission pool / SERVICE_BUSY shed

    Process admission protects the hot path under load. When saturated, the plane sheds with SERVICE_BUSY rather than silently queueing forever.

    Definitions compile to indexes and residual_rules tables once, then execute many times — Rust compile path, not Java bytecode / ARL optimizer product.

Multi-stage ruleflow is Live. Fine-grained task ordering and fork/join control are Partial — useful today, not a full ODM-class task product.

These classic XU / inference capabilities are not Live product. We name them so comparisons stay honest — there is no "coming soon" switch that pretends they run.

Do not map RetePlus, Sequential, Fastpath, Working Memory, or Agenda to Live. DecisionManager is a single-pass decision runtime, not a multi-algo inference product.
